Set Up

Set up of your Product Catalogue

A listing for each of your products is stored in your product catalogue. This can be imported or manually set up. The listing includes product GTIN, product name, photos and other static information.

Config

Setup of your Supply Chain

Next, you can configure any relationships you have with distributors and retailers. Distributors that you nominate will have access to the portal where they can add their sub-distributors or retailers. This maps out your entire supply chain network.

Our Supply Chain Management portal also enables you to configure and apply restrictions to specific distributors. For example, you’ll be able to restrict a Japanese distributor from rerouting your goods to other countries.

Generate

Generation of unique product identifiers

The Serialisation Engine generates globally recognisable unique product identifiers for each product. This number is printed on your product packaging or swing tag as a GS1 Datamatrix code or GS1 DataBar.

Barcode application

How you apply this barcode may be different depending on factors such as the type of product, production environment and packaging type. Generally, you’ll use one of three methods:

Pre-printed

If product labels are applied during production, the GS1 Datamatrix code may be preprinted on the label prior to production. This method may be suitable for food and other packaged types of industries.

Online printing/engraving

If products go through a conveyer during production or packaging, a datamatrix code may be added as part of this process. There are a number of companies that specialise in online printing/engraving. Shping would simply integrate with printers and scanners that these specialists install on your production site.

On-demand printing

In an environment where products are tagged or packaged manually, the Shping Security Satellite system may be used. This will take care of printing product tags, aggregation and product assignment.

Regardless of your preferred method of barcode application, the end result will be the same. Each product will have a unique barcode applied. In addition, the system will have captured the relationship of each product to its carton and each carton to its pallet.

Track

Track & Trace

In order to track product movement throughout the supply chain, the Shping platform can be integrated with both you and your supply chain partner’s ERP system. If there is no existing ERP system in place, the Shping Logistic App can be used for product assignment in its stead.

Confirm

Product authentication

With serialisation and traceability fully configured, any of your products can be verified by interested parties, such as consumers and retailers. Users can confirm product authenticity using the Shping app to scan product barcodes.
